An envelope containing 48 letters from Newfoundland residents (all written in 1809) and 23 other documents was discovered during the 1994 renovation of the Wimborne premises formerly owned by John and William Fryer — a father and son who were wealthy bankers and merchants shipping supplies to Newfoundland. The original papers, now housed at the Dorset History Centre.
